Recovery Is Possible — And You Do Not Have to Do It Alone
At Health Plus Indiana, we know that recovery from substance use or mental health challenges is a personal journey. It can feel overwhelming at times. That is why our Peer Recovery Program connects you with someone who truly understands what you are going through — because they have been there, too.
What Is Peer Recovery?
Peer recovery is a supportive approach where people with lived experience of substance use or mental health recovery guide others who are working toward their own recovery. Our peer recovery specialists are not just trained professionals. They are people who have walked the same path and found their way forward.
They use their personal experience to offer hope, encouragement, and practical help. They understand the struggles, the setbacks, and the victories — because they have lived them.
How Our Peer Recovery Specialists Help
- Navigate treatment options — Your peer specialist can help you understand what services are available and find the right fit for your needs.
- Build life skills — From managing stress to finding stable housing, your peer specialist can help you develop the skills you need to thrive.
- Stay engaged in care — Recovery takes time. Your peer specialist will walk alongside you, helping you stay connected to the support you need.
- Set and reach goals — Together, you and your peer specialist will set meaningful goals and work toward them step by step.
Support Group Using Harm Reduction Therapy
We also offer a support group based on harm reduction therapy. This group is a safe, judgment-free space where you can share your experiences, learn from others, and build a network of people who care. Harm reduction means meeting you where you are — no matter where that is. You do not have to be in a certain stage of recovery to join. Everyone is welcome.
The group focuses on reducing harm, building healthy habits, and supporting one another through the ups and downs of recovery.
