Living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) can be hard enough on its own. When substance use or mental health concerns are part of the picture, things can feel even more overwhelming. That is why Health Plus Indiana created the Special Populations Support Program (SPSP) — a program designed to help you through it all.

What Is the Special Populations Support Program?

The Special Populations Support Program (SPSP) provides both individual and group support for people who are living with HIV and also dealing with substance dependency or mental health concerns. Our team understands that these challenges are often connected. We treat you as a whole person — not just one diagnosis at a time.

Whether you are struggling with alcohol, drugs, depression, anxiety, or other challenges, this program is here for you. We offer a safe, supportive space where you can share your experiences and get the help you need.

What We Offer

• Peer Recovery Specialist — A peer who has walked a similar path and can provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to help you navigate your recovery journey.
• Individual support — Work one-on-one with a trained specialist who understands the unique challenges of living with HIV alongside substance use or mental health concerns. Together, you will create a plan that fits your life and your goals.
• Group support — Join others who are going through similar experiences. Our group sessions provide a safe place to connect, share, and learn from one another. You will find that you are not alone.
• Encouragement at every stage — No matter where you are on your recovery journey, we are here to support you. Whether you are just beginning to think about making a change or you have been in recovery for years, the SPSP is here to walk with you.
• Assistance with resources — Our team can help connect you with other services you may need, like medical care, housing support, or food assistance.
